Voting has concluded in Khana Constituency 2 as part of the Rivers State House of Assembly bye-elections held on Saturday February 21 2026, and final collation of results is now underway, election officials say.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) supervised the exercise with officials reporting that the polls in Khana Constituency 2 concluded peacefully and in an orderly manner, with voters and party agents expressing satisfaction with how voting was conducted at polling units across the area.

Observers noted that some sections of the electorate turned out to cast their ballots despite prevailing movement restrictions imposed by the police within the constituency to ensure security and maintain a violence-free environment for the bye-election. Security operatives were deployed throughout the voting period and helped to keep the situation calm.

With voting completed, attention now turns to the collation and announcement of results, a process INEC officials have said will follow established guidelines and be concluded once all polling unit figures are received from returning officers at the local collation centre.

The bye-election was held to fill the vacant seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly left by the late or former member representing Khana Constituency 2, with political parties contesting to win the mandate and serve the remainder of the term.
