Innoson Group, one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous manufacturing companies, currently employs about 8,000 direct workers nationwide and plans to expand its workforce further with a new tractor manufacturing plant, the company’s Chief Executive Officer Innocent Chukwuma has said.

Chukwuma made the disclosure on Saturday February 21 2026 while leading the management team of the Bank of Industry (BoI) on a tour of Innoson’s vehicle manufacturing facilities in Nnewi, Anambra State. He said his company is poised to become even larger as expansion projects are completed and new production lines are launched.

According to the CEO, the company plans to hire an additional 2,000 workers once the new factory begins operations. He expressed confidence that Innoson’s growing operations will create more jobs in the near term and support youth empowerment and self-reliance across the country.

Chukwuma also highlighted gender inclusion in the workplace saying women are deployed in key sensitive sections of the production process because of their discipline and attention to detail. He said this approach reflects the company’s belief in utilising talent regardless of gender.

One of the major projects discussed during the visit is the establishment of a tractor plant at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, which Chukwuma said will help improve farmers’ access to mechanised equipment and boost agricultural productivity across communities in Nigeria.

The Bank of Industry’s Executive Director, Large Enterprises Omar Shekarau, reaffirmed the BoI’s long-standing support for Innoson Group, saying the company has grown significantly from humble beginnings into a key player in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. He urged Nigerians to support locally made products to strengthen the economy.
