An Ikeja High Court has scheduled April 16, 2026 to deliver its ruling in a civil suit filed by Dr. Chris Okafor against Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, social media influencer Martins Otse known as VeryDarkMan, and Kelvin Emmanuel, legal filings and court records show.
Okafor instituted the suit marked ID/14399GCMW/2026 in the Lagos State High Court (Ikeja Division) seeking legal redress over a dispute with the defendants. His counsel Ife Ajayi told the court on Wednesday that all parties had been duly served with the originating processes in line with proof of service by the court’s sheriff.
Defence lawyers raised a preliminary objection arguing that the writ of summons failed to comply with a statutory requirement under the Sheriff and Civil Process Act and that service on the first defendant, Doris Ogala, was effected outside the court’s jurisdiction because she is not based in Lagos. Justice Akintunde Savage heard arguments on both sides before adjourning proceedings to mid‑April for a ruling on the objection.
Earlier in the case the court granted an interim order restraining the defendants and their agents from mentioning Okafor, his church Grace Nation International (also known as Liberation City), or related materials on any platform until the substantive suit is resolved. The injunction was issued following an exparte application brought by Okafor’s legal team.
The ruling on April 16 will determine whether the suit can proceed to full hearing or if any portion should be struck out on procedural grounds.
