Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, a 15-year-old Nigerian Guinness World Record holder, is preparing for a symbolic bicycle ride from Enugu to Lagos to commemorate World Autism Day, organisers and local officials say.
Tagbo-Okeke, who gained global recognition for setting a Guinness World Record for the largest individual canvas painting in celebration of autism awareness, was recently received by Governor Peter Mbah during a special visit in Enugu State ahead of the ride, supporters said.
The bicycle ride is intended to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder, encourage inclusion of persons with autism across society and inspire greater understanding of their talents and challenges. It will see the young record-holder pedal hundreds of kilometres across several states before arriving in Lagos ahead of the annual World Autism Day celebration on April 2, 2026.
Support teams coordinating the event said the initiative reflects Tagbo-Okeke’s commitment to advocacy and empowerment, building on earlier milestones in art and public engagement that have made him a prominent voice for neurodiversity in Nigeria.
Governor Mbah congratulated the young cyclist on his achievement and expressed the state government’s support for his awareness campaign, noting that efforts to highlight issues affecting persons with autism can help change social perceptions and improve access to resources and opportunities.
Friends and well-wishers have also pledged support for the journey, saying Tagbo-Okeke’s courage and determination continue to inspire many Nigerians, especially young people and families impacted by autism.
