Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued a kidnapped six-year-old boy identified as Mohammed Jabir at Gyada Village, Talase in Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, security sources say. The swift operation followed a tip-off from the boy’s family after he was abducted by a suspect who lured him with a false promise of teaching him how to ride a motorcycle.

According to officials, the alleged kidnapper, identified as Salisu Hussain, was traced and arrested by DSS operatives shortly after the abduction was reported to security authorities. The agents rescued Mohammed and reunited him with his grateful parents.

The rescue came as part of a wider DSS operation in Gombe State that also led to the arrest of two suspected arms couriers and the seizure of military-grade weapons linked to bandit gangs operating across northeastern states.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect is being held in DSS custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded. Parents in Gyada Village praised the security service for its rapid response and the safe recovery of their child.
