The United States government has issued a strong advisory urging American citizens to leave multiple countries in the Middle East immediately as the military conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran continues to escalate, major international news outlets report.
The U.S. Department of State on March 2, 2026 called on its nationals to depart over a dozen Middle Eastern countries “due to serious safety risks”, highlighting the dangers posed by regional hostilities and unpredictable security conditions. The warning covers nations including Iran, Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Syria, Yemen and others.
Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar issued the advisory on social media, telling Americans to “depart now via available commercial transportation” before conditions deteriorate further. The department also provided emergency contact numbers and urged those seeking help to use them for assistance in arranging departures.
The advisory follows days of intense military action in the region, with U.S. and Israeli forces conducting strikes on Iranian targets and Iran retaliating with missile and drone attacks on military bases and cities across nearby countries, raising the threat level for civilians and foreign nationals alike.
Foreign governments including France and other Western countries have similarly urged their citizens to leave the Middle East as violence and instability deepen, underscoring the growing concern among nations over the regional fallout of the ongoing conflict.
