The Kano State Government has begun the distribution of 100000 bags of rice donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to support vulnerable residents across the state.

The rice palliative is being shared across the 44 local government areas of Kano State as part of efforts to assist low income families struggling with rising food prices and economic hardship.

According to officials, the distribution exercise was launched by the state government under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf. The governor was represented during the flag off by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim who led the team responsible for the exercise.

The Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture Dr Danjuma Mahmoud explained that the Dangote Foundation decided to allow the state government oversee the distribution this year because of the trust it has in the administration to ensure transparency and fairness.

He noted that the relief items are targeted mainly at vulnerable groups including the poor elderly women and persons living with disabilities. The government said the distribution system is designed to ensure the rice gets directly to those who need it most.

Governor Yusuf also expressed appreciation to the Dangote Foundation describing the donation as timely support that will help ease the burden on many families especially during the Ramadan period when food demand increases.

Beneficiaries who received the rice expressed gratitude to the foundation and the Kano State Government saying the intervention will help support their households during the fasting period.

The donation forms part of a wider humanitarian programme by the Dangote Foundation aimed at addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable Nigerians across the country.
