The Agbu Kefas‑led government in Taraba State has officially flagged off the construction of a new Livestock Service Centre in Sunkani, Ardo‑Kola Local Government Area as part of efforts to modernise the livestock sector and boost food security. The event was held under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L‑PRES) with support from development partners including the World Bank. The governor’s representative, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Nicholas Nemassen, led the ceremony.

The new centre is expected to transform livestock farming in the state by providing modern facilities for veterinary care disease control genetic improvement and training for farmers and pastoralists. Project coordinators said it will serve as a “one‑stop platform” to help transition the local livestock industry from traditional practices to a more commercialised and productive system.

Officials noted that the facility is among similar centres planned nationwide under L‑PRES which aims to address critical gaps in animal production increase productivity and create jobs for local communities.
