The United Nations has raised alarm over a growing humanitarian crisis in Iran as millions of people have been forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing Middle East war. According to the UN refugee agency UNHCR, up to 3.2 million people have been internally displaced across Iran since the conflict intensified in late February.

The displaced population includes between 600000 and one million households who have left their homes to escape air strikes and military operations affecting several cities. Many residents have moved away from major urban centres including Tehran to seek safety in northern provinces and rural areas.

UN officials said the figures are based on preliminary assessments and warned that the number of displaced civilians could rise if fighting continues. Humanitarian agencies are now preparing emergency assistance to support families who urgently need shelter food medical care and other essential services.

The conflict has also disrupted transportation health services and supply chains across the country making it harder for displaced communities to access basic necessities. Aid organisations fear that prolonged hostilities could push more civilians to flee or even cross international borders in search of safety.

The United Nations is calling for urgent humanitarian support and renewed diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region. Officials warn that without a de escalation of the conflict the humanitarian situation inside Iran could deteriorate further in the coming weeks.
