A former spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that the political movement to remove the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in the 2027 general elections has begun.

Okonkwo made the remark while addressing political developments ahead of the 2027 polls. According to him, Nigerians who are dissatisfied with the current administration are already mobilising politically to build a strong opposition capable of challenging the ruling party.

The lawyer and former Nollywood actor stressed that the opposition must unite if it hopes to defeat the APC in the next presidential election. He argued that the fragmentation of opposition parties was one of the major reasons the ruling party retained power during the 2023 elections.

Okonkwo said the journey to remove the APC has already started through ongoing political consultations and coalition discussions among opposition figures and political groups across the country.

He also criticised what he described as the government’s focus on political positioning instead of addressing major national issues such as insecurity poverty and economic hardship.

The politician maintained that Nigerians deserve leadership built on competence integrity and commitment to public welfare. He added that a united opposition could replicate the strategy used in 2015 when several political groups merged to defeat the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Okonkwo expressed optimism that a broad coalition would emerge before the next election cycle saying the opposition is already working behind the scenes to build a formidable political platform for 2027.
