The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of several senior officers in the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen leadership across the security agency.
According to the commission, 13 Commissioners of Police have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police, while 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police.
The newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General include Emmanuel Christopher, former Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Joseph Eribo of Ekiti State, and Dantawaye Miller who served as Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory.
Others elevated to the AIG rank are Uche Henry, former Director of the National Cyber Crime Centre, Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, former CP of Ogun State, Muhammad Dahiru of Jigawa State, Dankombo Morris of Adamawa State, Bello Shehu of Katsina State, Ibrahim Maikaba of Zamfara State, and Ahmed Musa of Sokoto State.
The list also includes Olohundare Jimoh, former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Simeon Akpanudom, who served at the Anti Fraud section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos, and Haruna Olufemi, former Commissioner of Police in Oyo State.
In addition, the commission promoted 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioner of Police. Those elevated include Abdulrahim Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele Adebola, Preye Egbetokun, Kayode Magaji, Adebisi Lateef, Markus Basiran, Silas Aremu, Sylvester Uzoefuna, and Magaji Ismaila.
Others are Theodore Obasi, Sarah Ehindero, Hayatu Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma Yahaya, and Rebecca Okereke.
The promotions are part of ongoing reforms aimed at boosting operational efficiency and strengthening leadership capacity within the Nigeria Police Force. Security analysts say such advancements help motivate officers and reinforce the chain of command across different police formations nationwide.
