The approval was reportedly granted during a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Officials said the project is aimed at expanding the presence of the Nigeria Police Force and improving rapid response to crime across communities.
According to government sources, each of the 25 local government areas will benefit from the construction of a new divisional police headquarters equipped with modern facilities for officers and operational units.
Authorities explained that the initiative is designed to bring security closer to residents especially in rural communities where police presence is limited. The new facilities are expected to include offices residential quarters communication equipment and operational infrastructure to enhance law enforcement activities.
The Delta State government said the investment forms part of its broader strategy to tackle crime and ensure safer communities across the oil rich state. Officials also noted that improved security infrastructure will support economic activities and encourage investment.
Security experts say the move could significantly improve coordination between the police and local communities while strengthening intelligence gathering and crime prevention across the state.
Construction work is expected to begin after the completion of procurement procedures and site preparation in the various local government areas.
