Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has strongly condemned the reported attack on the secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Cross River State.

Reacting to the incident, Obi described the attack as a disturbing development that threatens democratic values and peaceful political engagement in Nigeria. He stressed that political disagreements should never result in violence or the destruction of property.

The former Anambra State governor called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice. He warned that attacks on political offices or party supporters undermine the democratic process and weaken public confidence in political institutions.

According to reports, the ADC secretariat in Cross River was vandalised by unidentified individuals, prompting concern among party members and political observers.

Obi urged political actors across the country to promote tolerance respect and peaceful participation in the political process, especially as political activities begin to intensify ahead of future elections.

He also emphasized that Nigeria’s democracy can only thrive when citizens and political groups are able to express their views freely without fear of intimidation or violence.
