Telecommunications giant MTN Group has reported an annual profit of $2.81 billion, driven largely by strong performances in key markets including Nigeria and Ghana.

The company said its financial results reflected improved revenue growth increased data usage and expansion of digital services across its African operations. Nigeria remained MTN’s largest market contributing a significant share of the group’s earnings.

According to the company’s financial statement, strong demand for data services mobile money platforms and voice communication helped sustain revenue growth despite economic pressures in several countries.

In Nigeria the telecom operator continued to expand its network coverage and digital offerings while also investing in infrastructure to improve connectivity and service delivery. Similar growth trends were recorded in Ghana where mobile money services and data subscriptions contributed to higher earnings.

MTN executives said the results highlight the company’s resilience and ability to grow across multiple markets in Africa. They also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in network expansion financial technology and digital innovation.

The company noted that increasing smartphone adoption rising demand for internet services and the growth of mobile banking platforms are expected to support further growth across its operations.

Industry analysts say the strong performance underscores MTN’s dominance in the African telecommunications sector and its strategic importance in driving digital transformation across the continent.
