Several passengers were reportedly injured after a train operating along the Abuja to Kaduna rail corridor was involved in an accident.

The train service operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation was travelling between Abuja and Kaduna when the incident occurred, causing panic among passengers onboard.

According to preliminary reports the accident happened after the train derailed following a collision along the rail track. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the scene to assist injured passengers and ensure the safe evacuation of others.

Officials said several passengers sustained injuries during the incident while others were left stranded as authorities worked to stabilise the situation.

The Abuja Kaduna railway is one of Nigeria’s busiest passenger rail lines connecting the Federal Capital Territory with northern parts of the country. The route has become a preferred means of transportation for many travellers due to security concerns along the highway.

Authorities from the Nigerian Railway Corporation said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident while safety assessments are being carried out on the affected section of the track.

Passengers have called for stronger safety measures and improved monitoring of railway infrastructure to prevent future incidents.
