The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that 26 passengers and crew members sustained varying degrees of injuries following a train incident along the Abuja–Kaduna rail corridor on Monday.

According to the corporation, the incident occurred during a scheduled trip between Abuja and Kaduna, one of Nigeria’s busiest railway routes. The NRC stated that emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene to assist affected passengers and ensure their safe evacuation.

The injured victims were taken to nearby medical facilities where they are currently receiving treatment. Officials said none of the injuries reported so far are life threatening, although passengers described the experience as frightening.

Preliminary findings suggest that the incident may have been linked to a derailment following a disruption on the track, but authorities say a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.

The NRC reassured the public of its commitment to passenger safety and said steps are being taken to review safety measures and prevent future occurrences.

The Abuja–Kaduna rail line remains a critical transport link for commuters, especially due to security concerns on the highway connecting both cities.
