Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised no fewer than 61 insurgents during a foiled infiltration attempt in Malam Fatori, located in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, carried out in close coordination with the Nigerian Air Force, was aimed at repelling the suspected fighters linked to Islamic State West Africa Province. Military sources said the insurgents attempted to breach defensive positions but were met with heavy resistance from ground troops supported by air strikes.

According to reports, the coordinated response led to significant losses among the attackers, forcing the remaining fighters to retreat. Security forces also recovered weapons and other equipment from the scene.

Officials described the operation as a major success in ongoing counterinsurgency efforts in northeastern Nigeria, particularly in areas that have experienced repeated threats from armed groups.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on insurgents and ensuring the safety of communities in the region. They also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
