Muslims across Nigeria have marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, one of the most significant festivals in Islam.

The celebration follows the official declaration of the new moon by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, confirming the start of Shawwal and the conclusion of the month long fast.

Faithful gathered in large numbers at Eid prayer grounds and mosques across the country to observe special prayers, offer thanksgiving, and seek blessings. Clerics used the occasion to preach peace, unity, and compassion, urging Muslims to sustain the virtues of discipline, charity, and devotion cultivated during Ramadan.

Families and communities also came together to celebrate, sharing meals, exchanging gifts, and extending goodwill messages to one another.

Security agencies were deployed in major cities to ensure peaceful celebrations, while authorities called on citizens to celebrate responsibly.

The festival, which signifies gratitude and spiritual renewal, is being observed nationwide with joy and reflection, as millions of Muslims mark the successful completion of fasting and worship.
