Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested four individuals linked to burglary and the handling of stolen property in separate but related operations carried out in Uyo.

According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Timfon John, two suspected shop burglars were apprehended during a targeted raid conducted in the early hours of March 17, 2026, around Aka Road and nearby areas in Uyo.

The suspects, identified as Idiongho Johnny, 29, and Ofonime Jimmy, 30, reportedly confessed to carrying out multiple shop break-ins within the area.

Items recovered from them include a locally fabricated pistol, a live cartridge, several bunches of keys believed to be master keys, an iron cutter, and a mobile phone.

In a follow-up operation aimed at dismantling the wider network, police arrested two additional suspects accused of receiving stolen goods. They were identified as Innocent Nnaukwu, 39, and Ali Ibrahim, 24.

Recovered from the pair were two generator sets, a welding coil, and a car battery, all suspected to have been stolen.

ZCommending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, praised the officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tracking down other members of the syndicate and recovering additional stolen items.
