Dangote Petroleum Refinery has strengthened Nigeria’s footprint in the regional energy market by exporting 456,000 tonnes (456KT) of refined petroleum products to African countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Tanzania, Ghana, and Togo.

The shipments, representing 12 cargoes sold on a FOB (Free on Board) basis, mark the refinery’s export of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) following its achievement of a 650,000 barrels per day capacity in February.

According to the refinery, this milestone demonstrates its ability to not only meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel demand but also supply high-quality Euro 5 gasoline and diesel to other African nations. The exports are expected to:

• Enhance energy security in West, East, and Central Africa

• Reduce logistics and supply chain delays linked to long-distance fuel importsLower cost pressures in regional fuel markets

• Strengthen trade relations between Nigeria and key African economies

Commissioned in May 2023, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery continues to position Nigeria as a key supplier of premium fuels in Africa, addressing a historical gap in high-quality petroleum supply.
