Renewed attacks have struck parts of the Gulf region, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates reporting missile and drone threats early Monday, further deepening tensions in the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Saudi authorities confirmed that two ballistic missiles were detected heading toward the capital. According to the country’s defence ministry, one of the projectiles was successfully intercepted, while the other landed in an uninhabited area without causing casualties.
In the UAE, officials said air defence systems were actively engaged in intercepting incoming missiles and drones. Residents reported hearing loud explosions, which authorities attributed to defensive operations neutralising the threats.
Earlier, officials in Abu Dhabi disclosed that an Indian national sustained injuries after being struck by debris from a missile that had been intercepted mid-air.
Meanwhile, warning sirens were activated in Bahrain, with authorities urging both citizens and residents to remain calm and seek immediate shelter as a precaution.
The latest incidents mark a significant escalation, as Gulf countries—traditionally viewed as relatively stable—are increasingly being drawn into the wider regional conflict. Analysts say the attacks are part of Iran’s response to ongoing strikes involving the United States and Israel.
Reports indicate that targets have included not only military installations but also critical infrastructure such as airports, oil facilities, ports, and key public landmarks across the region, raising concerns about broader instability and economic disruption.
