The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has declared its intention to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, reaffirming the stance earlier expressed by Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking on behalf of the party, National Chairman Sly Ezeokenwa said APGA’s leadership has already resolved to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and adopt Tinubu as its preferred candidate.
He noted that the party has consistently maintained ideological alignment with the current administration and its “Renewed Hope” agenda, adding that this position remains unchanged.
However, he explained that the formal endorsement would be ratified at a future national convention of the party.
Ezeokenwa further highlighted the importance of strategic political alliances, pointing out that the South-East’s contribution to the 2023 election results was relatively low. According to him, broader collaboration with other regions is necessary for the zone to have a stronger chance at securing top political offices in the country.
He added that leaders in the region are increasingly recognising the need to integrate more actively into national politics rather than remain on the sidelines.
The development signals a growing alignment between APGA and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
