The Ghana Black Stars have dismissed head coach Otto Addo with just 72 days remaining before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Ghana Football Association confirmed the decision following a 2–1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart, days after a heavy 5–1 loss in Austria during pre-tournament preparations.
Addo, a former Borussia Dortmund player, was appointed for a second stint in March 2024 but failed to lead Ghana to qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite having Premier League players like Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus in his squad.
During his tenure, the 50-year-old recorded 8 wins and 9 defeats in 22 matches. He previously guided Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where the team defeated South Korea 3–2 but exited at the group stage after losses to Portugal and Uruguay.
Ghana, making their fifth World Cup appearance, are drawn in Group L alongside Croatia, England, and Panama.
