Plateau Won’t Bow to Terror, Caleb Mutfwang Declares After Jos Killings

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has vowed that Plateau State will not give in to fear following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, which left 28 people dead. In a statewide broadcast, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a senseless attack on innocent, law-abiding citizens who were caught off guard.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has vowed that Plateau State will not give in to fear following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, which left 28 people dead.

In a statewide broadcast, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a senseless attack on innocent, law-abiding citizens who were caught off guard.

He assured residents that the state would remain united and resolute, stressing that Plateau would emerge stronger despite the tragedy.

Mutfwang revealed that security agencies have been fully deployed to restore calm, with a 48-hour curfew imposed in Jos North to enable effective operations. He added that he personally visited the scene alongside security chiefs to assess the situation and strengthen preventive measures.

The governor also visited injured victims at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, noting that most are in stable condition, while assuring that the state government will cover all medical expenses.

He confirmed that a suspect has been arrested and pledged that all those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.

Mutfwang further promised support for the families of the victims, including assistance and dignified burials, while commending residents for maintaining peace and avoiding retaliation.

As part of efforts to enhance security, he directed strict enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles within the Jos Greater Master Plan area and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, the governor called for unity and collective responsibility in safeguarding peace across the state.
