The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebrations.

The announcement was made by Dr. Magdalene Ajani on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the minister congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion of Easter, urging citizens to reflect on the values associated with the season.

He encouraged Nigerians to embrace virtues such as selflessness, forgiveness, tolerance, and love, as exemplified by Jesus Christ. He also called for continued commitment to unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.

Tunji-Ojo reiterated that the government remains focused on policies aimed at national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity.

The declared holidays correspond with Good Friday on April 3 and Easter Monday on April 6, marking key moments in the Christian calendar.He concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
