A suspected gas leak at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu Ode has left about 30 students and a teacher hospitalised.

The incident occurred shortly after the morning assembly on Wednesday when a strange gaseous substance reportedly spread across the school premises, triggering panic among students and staff.

Eyewitnesses said many began experiencing breathing difficulties, with several collapsing as the situation escalated.

The affected individuals were quickly rushed to the Ijebu Ode General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

While the exact cause of the leak remains unclear, some witnesses suspect it may have originated from a nearby gas emission, while others believe it could be linked to chemicals within the school’s laboratory.

Adeola Borogun is expected to provide further clarification as investigations continue.

Authorities are yet to confirm the source of the incident, but the situation has raised concerns over safety measures in and around school environments.
