The Nigerian Air Force, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, has taken out numerous terrorist fighters and key commanders in a targeted air interdiction mission at Kangarwa in the Northern Tumbuns area of Borno State.
According to the Air Component of the Joint Task Force North-East, the operation was launched after credible intelligence, backed by Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions, confirmed active terrorist presence and movements within the enclave.
In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Air Force, Ehimen Ejodame, said the strike forms part of an ongoing offensive aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts and restricting their operational freedom.
He explained that surveillance identified several fighters moving around structures and concealed positions within the settlement. Following confirmation of targets, Air Force assets executed multiple strike passes, delivering precision fire on designated locations.
The bombardment destroyed critical structures and logistics hubs while eliminating a significant number of fighters, severely weakening the enclave and reducing its operational capacity.
The operation also disrupted terrorist mobility and created an advantage for ground troops to advance and sustain coordinated clearance missions in the area.
Military sources believe the strike dealt a heavy blow to ISWAP elements, impacting both their fighters and segments of their command and support network.
The success further underscores the growing coordination between air and ground forces under Operation Hadin Kai, as efforts intensify to deny insurgents safe havens.
Reacting to the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the military’s resolve, stating that the Air Force will continue to carry out intelligence-led precision strikes alongside ground forces until all terrorist enclaves are dismantled and lasting security is achieved.
