The Nigerian Army has debunked reports of an alleged attack on Matthew Kukah and the Sokoto Catholic Cathedral, describing the claims as false and misleading.

The rumour, which circulated on social media, suggested that armed attackers targeted the bishop’s residence and the cathedral. However, military authorities clarified that no such incident occurred in Sokoto State.

According to the Army, Bishop Kukah remains safe and is actively carrying out his Easter duties without any disruption.

The military also assured residents that security around the cathedral and across the state remains intact, with ongoing collaboration among security agencies to ensure a peaceful environment.
