Governor Caleb Mutfwang has announced plans to introduce toll-free emergency hotlines to strengthen security response and improve reporting of suspicious activities across Plateau State.
The governor made the disclosure during an Easter service in Jos North, assuring residents that his administration is stepping up efforts to safeguard lives and property following recent attacks.
According to him, the hotlines will create a direct communication channel between citizens and security agencies, enabling faster intelligence sharing and more decisive responses to threats. He emphasised the importance of public cooperation, urging residents to adopt a “see something, say something” approach.
Mutfwang acknowledged the fear caused by the recent Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba but maintained that the government remains resolute in tackling insecurity. He assured citizens that ongoing interventions are being intensified across both urban and rural communities.
“We will not be intimidated or cowed by fear,” the governor said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the state.
The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Plateau State government to enhance community-based security and improve rapid response mechanisms in the face of escalating threats.
