Governor Douye Diri has called on Bayelsans to turn out in large numbers for the April 10, 2026 visit of Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of the event as a platform to showcase the state’s hospitality.

Speaking during an Easter Sunday service in Sampou, Diri highlighted major projects to be inaugurated during the one-day visit, including a 60-megawatt gas turbine power plant and the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma bridge. He stressed that these initiatives are pivotal for boosting electricity supply, economic growth, and regional connectivity.

“Power is a major driver of economic growth, and this project is key to our development agenda,” Diri said. He added that the Angiama-Oporoma bridge, long-awaited by Southern Ijaw communities, would improve access to Yenagoa and open up opportunities for trade and investment.

The governor also underscored the importance of peace, unity, and love, tying the Easter celebration to a call for continued harmonious coexistence among Bayelsans.

High-profile attendees at the service included the First Lady, Dr. Gloria Diri, Deputy Governor Peter Akpe, government officials, lawmakers, and former state leaders, highlighting the state’s collective endorsement of the upcoming presidential visit and its development agenda.
