Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has unveiled plans to transform the Araromi coastline into a major tourism hub, aiming to attract 5–10 private investors for the project. Speaking at the Araromi seaside carnival in Ilaje Local Government Area, he highlighted the economic potential of the 72-kilometre coastline, one of Africa’s longest, and stressed the importance of partnerships to develop the area.
Aiyedatiwa noted that private participation has already begun, with operators introducing basic facilities such as shelters and mobile kitchens to improve visitor experiences. The state has also measured the land and finalised resort designs, with construction expected to start this year and be completed within a year.
The governor assured that safety would be a top priority, with maximum security measures in place, and highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects like the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway as crucial to boosting accessibility and tourism.
Commissioners and local government leaders praised the initiative, noting it would enhance livelihoods, attract industrial growth, and position Araromi Beach as an international destination. Expatriate investors are expected to visit soon to begin development inspections.
The project reflects Ondo State’s broader efforts to harness natural resources for tourism, recreation, and economic development.
