Yusuf Buhari has officially announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a letter dated April 3, 2026, he revealed plans to run for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, stating that the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders.

Buhari said his ambition is driven by a desire to contribute to quality leadership, with a focus on infrastructural and human capital development in the constituency. He also appealed for support from party members and constituents to achieve his political goal.

The move was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, who noted that the declaration came after broad engagement with key political stakeholders in the area.

Local APC stakeholders in Sandamu had earlier endorsed Buhari as their preferred candidate, describing him as a suitable choice for the role. The development marks his first major step into elective politics as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
