Top opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rauf Aregbesola, and David Mark, on Wednesday led a “Save Nigeria Democracy” protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.

The protest, organised by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), drew hundreds of supporters who marched from Maitama Roundabout to INEC’s office, accusing the electoral body of bias in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Prominent figures at the rally included Aminu Tambuwal, alongside other party chieftains and members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement. Protesters carried placards with messages such as “Hands off our courts” and “Judges must give justice.

”Addressing the crowd, Amaechi spoke from a moving vehicle as the procession advanced through the capital. In a social media post, Atiku described the demonstration as a peaceful stand against what he called partisanship by the electoral umpire, adding that the aim was to protect Nigeria’s democracy.

Obi had earlier called on Nigerians to join the protest, urging citizens to reject a one-party system and defend democratic values. Tambuwal also said the protest reflected a collective effort to ensure a credible and transparent electoral process.
