The president of Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, has arrived in Dakar as tensions continue over the controversial reversal of the AFCON 2025 final result.

His visit follows CAF’s decision to strip Senegal of their 1-0 victory and instead award the title to Morocco, citing disciplinary regulations after Senegal’s team walked off during the final match in Rabat.

The decision sparked outrage in Senegal, with authorities and football officials rejecting the ruling and demanding further investigation, including allegations of possible irregularities within CAF.

Motsepe is expected to meet with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as part of efforts to ease tensions and reinforce cooperation within African football.

Meanwhile, the Senegalese Football Federation has taken the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with Motsepe stating that CAF will respect and implement whatever decision the court ultimately delivers.
