Residents of Omugo community in the Oro-Ago district of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, have fled their homes following repeated attacks by suspected bandits.

Community representatives said the area has become largely deserted due to escalating insecurity and recurring abductions.

Speaking in Ilorin, leaders of the community under the Concerned Citizens of Omugo, including Balogun Oladiran Johnson and Adeniyi Olasunkanmi, appealed for urgent intervention and the rescue of eight worshippers abducted on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

They said the latest kidnapping marks the third major attack in the community within six months, describing the situation as increasingly unbearable for residents.

According to them, kidnappers initially demanded ₦1 billion ransom before reducing it to ₦150 million, a sum they say is beyond the capacity of victims’ families.

The community leaders called on the Federal Government, the Kwara State Government, and security agencies to launch an urgent, coordinated rescue operation.

They stressed that restoring safety and returning displaced residents to their homes has become a critical priority as fear continues to drive families out of the area.
