The United States Embassy Abuja has halted visa appointments following the evacuation of its staff and their families over security concerns.

The decision came shortly after the US government ordered the withdrawal of non-essential personnel from Abuja, citing rising security risks.

In a notice to applicants, the embassy confirmed that its Abuja office is currently closed for visa services, advising individuals to check their emails for updates on rescheduled appointments.

The embassy stated that emergency consular services for American citizens are still available, but strictly on an appointment basis.

Meanwhile, visa operations at the US Consulate General Lagos continue, although on a limited scale.

The embassy did not indicate when normal visa processing will resume in Abuja, leaving many applicants uncertain about their travel plans.
