Johnvents Group has introduced a new Environmental Charter designed to deepen sustainability across its business operations and strengthen its standing in the international cocoa market.
The charter sets clear environmental priorities including efficient resource use, waste reduction, pollution control, and climate-focused action, all tied to measurable goals and implementation timelines. According to Group Managing Director John Alamu, the initiative moves the company beyond policy statements into practical execution, making sustainability part of daily operations across production, procurement, and logistics.
He noted that the strategy comes at a crucial time as global cocoa buyers demand stricter environmental and supply-chain compliance. In line with this push, Johnvents Foods recently completed the FSSC 22000 Stage 2 audit by Bureau Veritas, confirming alignment with international food safety standards and advancing its path toward global certification.
The company has also strengthened cocoa traceability by training 28 Licensed Buying Agents on compliance procedures, while expanding social responsibility efforts through child labour monitoring programs and governance training for cooperative leaders.
Johnvents says these combined measures are aimed at linking sustainability commitments directly with operational results across its cocoa value chain.
