The Northern States Governors’ Forum has honoured Aliko Dangote on his 69th birthday, describing him as one of Africa’s greatest symbols of entrepreneurship, industrial progress, and visionary leadership.
In a tribute issued by the forum chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the 19 northern governors praised Dangote’s remarkable rise from entrepreneur to global business leader, saying his achievements have brought pride to Northern Nigeria and the African continent.
The governors highlighted the role of the Dangote Group in transforming indigenous enterprise through large-scale investments in cement, petrochemicals, and refining. They noted that projects such as the Dangote Refinery and cement plants across Africa have strengthened industrial capacity, reduced import dependence, and created thousands of jobs.
They also commended Dangote for his continued confidence in Nigeria’s economy, describing his long-term investments as a model of private-sector commitment to national development.
Beyond business, the forum praised the humanitarian work of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, particularly its contributions to healthcare, education, poverty reduction, and humanitarian relief, which have positively affected millions of lives across communities.
