Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have arrived in Australia for a four-day trip combining charitable outreach with privately organised commercial appearances, their first visit to the country since 2018.
The couple landed in Melbourne on Tuesday and are scheduled to visit Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney, where they will meet hospital patients, healthcare workers, veterans, and survivors of domestic violence, while also taking part in paid speaking and wellness engagements.
Their first stop was the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where they spent time with patients and families. Prince Harry is also expected to speak at the InterEdge Psychosocial Safety Summit, while Meghan will host a women-focused wellness conversation in Sydney as part of a private retreat event.
Unlike their 2018 royal tour, this visit is being conducted in a private capacity rather than as working members of the royal family. The Sussexes say the trip is privately funded, though questions remain over whether public resources in Australia will be used for policing and security.
Authorities in Victoria and New South Wales confirmed that security operations are in place to ensure public safety during the visit, while officials aim to minimise disruption to local communities.
The trip also comes as Meghan continues expanding her lifestyle brand, “As Ever,” into the Australian market, adding a commercial dimension to the visit beyond its charitable engagements.
