Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has released ₦1.39 billion to pay 2026 WAEC fees for 39,536 public secondary school students, expanding his administration’s free education drive across the state.
The funding covers full examination costs, including registration charges, practical fees, administrative expenses, monitoring, sensitisation, and other related WAEC requirements, removing financial pressure from thousands of families.
The state government also announced plans to extend the same support to 38,000 students sitting for NECO exams, signaling a broader commitment to ensuring no eligible student misses national examinations because of cost.
In a related education support package, Governor Kefas approved an additional ₦243.8 million for food and transportation under the state’s student exchange programme, covering feeding logistics and inter-state movement for participating students.
Officials say the interventions reflect Taraba’s continued investment in accessible education, aimed at keeping children in school and strengthening academic opportunities statewide.
