Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has approved N4.289 billion for the payment of pensions, gratuities, and death benefits, reinforcing his administration’s push to improve welfare for retirees and families of deceased civil servants.
The funds will settle obligations under both the Contributory Pension Scheme and the Defined Benefit Scheme, helping reduce longstanding backlogs and ease financial hardship among pension beneficiaries.
According to Information Commissioner Ahmed Maiyaki, the payment reflects the government’s commitment to restoring dignity to retired workers by honoring years of public service with timely financial support.
With this latest release, the Kaduna State government says it has now disbursed a total of N17.796 billion since the start of the administration, benefiting over 8,300 retirees and next of kin.
Officials say the move is part of broader reforms aimed at improving transparency, fiscal discipline, and long-term sustainability in the pension system, while ensuring workers can retire with greater security and peace of mind.
