The Federal Government of Nigeria has called on members of the Airline Operators of Nigeria to avoid raising ticket prices and suspend plans to halt operations despite rising aviation fuel costs.
Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, noted that Jet A1 fuel prices have jumped from ₦900 to ₦3,300 per litre, creating serious operational pressure on airlines.
He urged operators to exercise restraint, warning that fare hikes could burden passengers and reduce demand for air travel.
The minister also appealed against any shutdown, stressing it could disrupt logistics and weaken confidence in the aviation sector.
He assured that the government is addressing the situation and has scheduled a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja to find lasting solutions.
