Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency intercepted cocaine concealed in food flasks bound for the United Kingdom at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, discovering 12 parcels weighing 2.80kg hidden in false compartments.
The shipment, scheduled on a Virgin Atlantic flight, led to the arrest of cargo agents Ama Obinna Ufeim and Ogabi Monday Akorede, while further investigations resulted in the arrest of freight forwarder Agoro Tajudeen Moninuola.
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers at the airport intercepted 2.90kg of “Loud,” a potent cannabis strain, hidden in snack packs arriving from the United States via a Delta Air Lines flight. Clearing agents and consignee Saheed Adeshina Adegoke were arrested.
Across states, enforcement intensified. In Kaduna, operatives intercepted a trailer along the Kaduna-Zaria highway, recovering 847kg of skunk. In Cross River, officers destroyed 15,000kg of cannabis on farmland and arrested a suspect during a joint operation.
In Edo, a cannabis farm raid led to the destruction of over 2,281kg and multiple arrests, while in Delta, suspects were caught with 87.838kg of skunk and seeds.
Back in Lagos, operatives arrested suspects transporting tramadol capsules and phenobarbital injections along the Mile 2–Badagry expressway, and recovered additional cannabis during a Lagos Island raid.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended officers for sustained enforcement efforts and ongoing sensitisation campaigns under the War Against Drug Abuse initiative, urging continued momentum in combating drug trafficking nationwide.
