The Transmission Company of Nigeria has declared force majeure on the Ikeja-West–Osogbo 330kV transmission line after a severe rainstorm disrupted operations on April 16, 2026.
According to a statement by General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the line tripped during the storm due to a fault detected about 14.9km from the Ikeja West (Ayobo) end.
Subsequent inspection by maintenance crews confirmed that Tower No. 515 collapsed midsection under the impact of the storm.
TCN stated that while materials and personnel are being mobilised for reconstruction, engineers are currently dismantling the damaged structure.
The company assured that efforts are ongoing to restore stability, noting that an alternative transmission line remains operational to evacuate bulk power.
Further updates are expected as restoration work progresses.
