The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards is entering a new phase as organisers have named Bovi Ugboma and Nomzamo Mbatha as co-hosts for the 12th edition.

The ceremony is scheduled to hold at Eko Hotel and Suites on May 9, 2026.

Since the awards began in 2013, IK Osakioduwa has been a central figure, hosting the show from its early years, including his debut alongside Vimbai Mutinhiri and his mentorship role during the 11th edition.

The transition had been hinted at during the 2025 ceremony, and Osakioduwa has now acknowledged the change, congratulating the new hosts and expressing support for them.

Bovi described the opportunity as significant, noting that while he has performed on the AMVCA stage before, hosting brings a different responsibility. He said he aims to deliver energy, humour, and a memorable experience.

Mbatha’s selection reflects the awards’ broader continental outlook. From her early role in Isibaya to her appearance in Coming 2 America, she brings international recognition to the stage. Currently starring as Queen Nandi in Shaka iLembe, she emphasised the importance of celebrating African storytelling on such a platform.

The 2026 edition also introduces two new categories: Best Indigenous Language (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language (Central Africa), expanding the awards’ continental scope.

Veteran actress Joke Silva has been appointed as Head Judge, adding further industry experience to the judging process.
