The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, has reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to implementing the Employee Compensation Scheme (ECS) for federal civil servants.

Faleye gave the assurance during a press briefing by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, on welfare improvements in the Federal Civil Service held in Abuja.

While commending the federal government’s newly introduced welfare measures, Faleye stated that the NSITF is ready to support the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation by effectively implementing the ECS.

He described the initiative as a significant step toward improving the living standards of federal civil servants.

“I appreciate your leadership for bringing to bear all of the just announced welfare packages and schemes for the benefit of the federal civil servant.

“On our part as NSITF, on behalf of the board and management of NSITF, I reiterate our commitment to the employee compensation scheme, particularly for the benefit of the federal civil servants who are under the treasury-funded scheme,” he said.

Faleye also highlighted the establishment of an ECS desk office within the Office of the Head of Civil Service as part of efforts to enhance access to the scheme.

According to him, the office is designed to serve as a one-stop centre for advocacy, awareness, and guidance on processes under the Employee Compensation Scheme.

“That office is manned in a way that we should be able to provide guidance and support for all federal civil servants who may require one, as to how best to not only comply, but to also, of course, benefit from the scheme,” he explained.

He added that, under a Memorandum of Understanding between NSITF and the Office of the Head of Civil Service, the Fund is committed to delivering prompt and professional services while supporting awareness campaigns across ministries, departments, and agencies.

Faleye emphasised that these efforts are aimed at ensuring civil servants clearly understand how to access and benefit from the scheme in cases of work-related issues.

Earlier, Walson-Jack described the introduction of the welfare package as a landmark achievement under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that it reflects a shift from policy intentions to practical implementation.

She also commended the NSITF for its role in transforming a long-standing legislative provision into a functional support system for civil servants and their families.
