The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has affirmed that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will retain her position as an ordained pastor in the church, dismissing calls for her removal.

Speaking during the monthly Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye clarified that the First Lady’s ordination as an Assistant Pastor took place over a decade ago—well before Bola Ahmed Tinubu pursued the presidency.

He stressed that her ordination followed all required procedures and that she has not breached any church guidelines, making any demand for her removal unjustified.

Adeboye also firmly rejected suggestions that the church is politically aligned, stating that the RCCG remains open to individuals from all political backgrounds.

According to him, members of various parties—including the APC, PDP, ADC, APGA, and LP—worship within the church. However, he emphasized that while politicians are welcome, the church does not allow its altar to be used for political campaigning.

Addressing the 2027 presidential election, Adeboye remarked that Nigeria’s future leader has already been divinely chosen, reinforcing his spiritual perspective on leadership.

He also responded to concerns about insecurity affecting Christians in northern Nigeria, noting that the church has been actively supporting affected communities through internally displaced persons (IDP) camps and welfare initiatives.

Adeboye dismissed claims that the church has remained silent on the issue, insisting that its interventions, though sometimes understated, have been consistent and impactful.
