Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to close ranks and rebuild the party following the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Nigeria on its leadership crisis.

Reacting to the judgment, Saraki described it as a turning point and a call to action for party leaders to prioritise unity, reconciliation, and strategic preparation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that the court’s decision, which nullified the Ibadan national convention and affirmed the Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara-led National Working Committee, effectively settles the leadership dispute and leaves the party with a single recognised structure.

Saraki reiterated that he had earlier advised against holding the convention, proposing instead an interim arrangement to avoid prolonged legal battles and internal divisions. With the legal process now concluded, he stressed that all aggrieved members should return and work collectively to strengthen the party.

According to him, the PDP must now shift focus from internal conflicts to rebuilding its structures across all states and presenting itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians. He emphasised that those who lost in court should view reconciliation as another form of victory in the broader interest of the party.

Saraki expressed optimism that the PDP remains well-positioned to compete in the 2027 elections, urging members to rally together, expand the party’s appeal, and focus on delivering good governance as a pathway to regaining power nationwide.
