The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a more business-friendly environment, as it deepens collaboration with Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) to strengthen gas production and supply in Nigeria.
The Commission Chief Executive, Oritsemeyewa Eyesan, made this known during a meeting with NLNG’s Managing Director, Adeleye Falade, emphasizing that the commission is being repositioned as a proactive industry enabler. According to her, regular stakeholder engagements are helping to identify and resolve sector challenges early, boosting investor confidence and encouraging new investments.
She reiterated that the federal government’s “Decade of Gas” initiative is not just a vision but a practical roadmap aimed at expanding domestic gas utilisation while enhancing export capacity.
On his part, Falade highlighted the importance of upstream collaboration in sustaining gas supply, noting that NLNG has fully committed its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production to the domestic market due to rising demand.
He also pointed to the upcoming Train 7 project, expected to increase NLNG’s production capacity by about 35 percent, enabling the company to scale both local supply and exports.
In a related development, TotalEnergies, in partnership with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, launched the 2026 edition of its “VIA Safe Mobility for Young People” programme, aimed at improving road safety awareness among schoolchildren across Nigeria.
Overall, the strengthened collaboration signals a broader push to position Nigeria as a key player in the global gas market while addressing domestic energy needs.
