The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission has praised President Bola Tinubu for resolving the long-standing concession dispute involving the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) in Lagos, describing it as a major boost to investor confidence.

Director-General Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh said the resolution demonstrates government commitment to honouring contracts, which he described as essential for attracting and retaining investment.

The dispute, which involved the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, had lasted for years and centred on the terms of the public-private partnership agreement, particularly issues around exclusivity and airport development rights.

Ewalefoh said the resolution was achieved through coordinated efforts involving the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, FAAN, Bi-Courtney, and the ICRC, following established PPP guidelines.

According to him, the outcome removes long-standing restrictions and provides clarity for future aviation infrastructure development, including planned projects such as the proposed Lekki Airport.

He said the decision signals policy stability and regulatory certainty, which are key for both local and international investors considering long-term infrastructure projects.

Ewalefoh added that the resolution is expected to improve infrastructure efficiency, increase revenue generation, and unlock stalled aviation investments.

He also commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for his role in facilitating the agreement, and praised all stakeholders for cooperation in reaching the outcome.

The ICRC reaffirmed its mandate to ensure that all public-private partnership agreements are implemented transparently and in line with national development priorities.
